Possibly Grimarillion too if you want to have like 300+ chars. Those are total conversion mods which add/change many things. They are most certainly not must have, maybe must try after you have played enough vanilla. Personally i don't really like the diablo 2 mod, and grimarillion gets unplayable for me at high levels because of crashing.

If you are playing "ungrim" with no masteries, something somewhere went wrong. Ungrim is exactly the same as grimarillion but without the grimmest mod. As jiaco said above.
