You will get that gliding feeling. Just played against Irelia yesterday, I used WW to dodge most of her E and even her R (or dodge it with my E). You’re not wrong about yasuo being good in lower elo. Maokai bought "Warden's Mail" and I did absolutely no damage against him even tho I ulted him. I also bought Last Whisper, but it was also damn useless, still no damage. Maokai almost did more damage than me as Tank, even tho he had no damage items.
