Weirdly, not if it isnt actually corrupt biome where you are. If you are building a house where some of it is in corruption, you are correct, it says its corrupt. If the house is built in purity, but when you took a few steps out the door the biome changes to corrupt, the game will sometimes just give the blanket "this is not valid housing" .
