Much better with SGO. It adds a lot of environmental changes that taken as a whole change the look of skyrim in a way I immediately see. Skyland adds quite a bit too. Your best bet is to use terrain LODs to make it less noticeable. The best in terms of pop in is Cathedral Landscapes. It has grass built in along with LOD and has a nearly seamless transition and it's very performance friendly. If you use that, you'll want to switch to Skyland Architecture and you'll need some other mods to fill in the gaps.I also like the author's additional mods of Skyland Bits and Bobs and Skyland Happy Little Trees Bark.
